UWC (United World Colleges) is a global education movement that makes education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. UWC offers an International Baccalaureate education to students with a high emphasis placed on international understanding and the sharing of cultures. Set in 18 countries on 4 continents, UWC Colleges deliver a challenging and transformational education to over 9,500 students each year.
The UWC movement started offering scholarships to Cambodian students since 2008. There are two scholarship programmes for Cambodia:
2-Year UWC Scholarships
UWC colleges offer scholarships for a maximum of two years for Cambodian nationals aged 16 to 18 years old of outstanding personal and academic potential. In the last several years, the national committee has received an average of three scholarships per year. This number may change depending on funding available at each UWC colleges, which relies on donations from alumni and other individuals, trusts, foundations, companies and governments.
The national committee is not able to know in advance which of the UWC colleges will offer scholarships to Cambodia until the offers are made. UWC scholarships for Cambodian students are need-based. It is likely that at least one of the scholarships received is fully funded, although there are partial scholarships in the mix as well. By donating directly to the national committee you can help fund additional UWC scholarships and provide more opportunities for the youth of Cambodia.
5-Year UWCSEA Scholarships
UWCSEA annually offers full scholarships for a maximum of five years for two Cambodian nationals, aged 13 to 15 years old, of outstanding personal and academic potential. One successful candidate will be placed at the UWCSEA (East) campus and one at the UWCSEA (Dover) campus. Applications are open for both boys and girls.
The College will meet all educational and accommodation fees, meals, travel expenses to and from Cambodia and a small living allowance for the successful candidates (subject to a review of their family's capability to contribute to their education).
The 5-Year scholarship programme is only available in Cambodia and for Cambodian nationals.
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible to apply, the student must be a Cambodian citizen residing in Cambodia and meet the minimum or maximum age requirement.

- Demonstrated critical thinking abilities and academic potential
- Demonstrated a strong commitment to and involvement in their communities
- Have the potential to improve themselves and make an impact during and after their UWC education

Selections criteria
UWC looks for the following attributes in students:
1. Intellectual curiosity and motivation
Showing a genuine desire to learn about the world, the capacity to grasp a range of issues, from global problems to local concerns, and the ability to analyse topics thoroughly.
2. Active commitment
The ability to develop, question and confront their own values. To measure their behaviour within family and community against these values, and to act accordingly and responsibly.
3. Social competence
The ability and readiness to make contact with other people, interact respectfully with them, work in a team and achieve solutions. Also, the ability to express themselves appropriately, in different situations and to different people.
4. Resilience, personal responsibility and integrity
The ability to look after themselves physically and emotionally during the challenging and transforming experience that UWC offers. Also, the personal motivation to adhere to UWC’s common moral and ethical principles, a sense of humility and an ability to listen and value the opinion and experience of others.
5. Motivation for UWC
Passion and commitment to actively promoting UWC’s values.

2-Year UWC Scholarships

Five up to fully funded (need-based) scholarships are offered to
Cambodian students aged 16 to 18 years old for the academic year 2024 -
2026. The actual level of financial assistance for each scholarship is
to be determined. You can find more details in the table below. The
schools or colleges may cover up to full tuition, room and board, books,
IB exam registration fees, curricular field trips, subject to a review
of family's capability to contribute to their child’s education.
Additional family contribution may be required for Project Weeks, pocket
money and/or travel allowance.
Successful candidates will join the respective colleges between August - September 2024.

Eligible and qualified applicants are invited to submit an online application form free of charge. The process is as follows:

Step 2 : Fill in all the details and then click on "Submit". Please note that the application form is used as part of the selection process when deciding which candidates are called to interview, so please answer in detail where appropriate.
Step 3 : You will receive a notification of application submission in your inbox if you enter a valid e-mail address and submit the application form. Please check the spam/junk box if you don't see the notification e-mail in your main inbox. Unless you receive a confirmation from the automatic Google Form email, you have not submitted the form.
Note:
- Only online applications are accepted. Candidates are required to have a valid email address to apply for this scholarship program.

Selection Process
Stage 1: Further Information
From the application forms, candidates may be emailed a list of further questions about their applications and asked to complete a short online task. All candidates will be notified of application results via email by February 15, 2024.
Individual results are not published, but all candidates will be contacted by email to inform them whether they are being considered for the next stage of the selection process.
Stage 2: Challenge Day
25 candidates will be invited to the Challenge Day on March 2, 2024. The exact time, venue, and format of these activities will be emailed directly to the interviewees.
Stage 3: Interview
15 candidates will be invited to interviews in Phnom Penh on March 3, 2024. The exact time, venue, and format of these interviews will be emailed directly to the interviewees.

5-Year UWCSEA Scholarships
UWC South East Asia (UWCSEA) is a member of the United World College (UWC) movement and is situated in Singapore. UWCSEA has over 5,000 students from more than 90 nationalities on two campuses and educates students from Kindergarten 1 to Grade 12. It is one of the world’s largest and most successful International Baccalaureate Diploma schools and, for more than 40 years, has achieved superb exam results. Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities, which include sports, music, drama and social service.

Scholarships for 2024-2029
The College is now able to offer full scholarships for a maximum of five years for two Cambodian nationals of outstanding personal and academic potential. Applications are open for both boys and girls.

Selection Process
Stage 1: Online Tests
Online tests in English and Mathematics will be conducted in February 2024. The specific times and requirements for these tests will be confirmed via email to all eligible candidates after the application deadline.
Candidates will need Internet access for the tests, which can be completed on a mobile phone, tablet, or laptop. It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure they have suitable access to complete the tests at the designated times.
Individual test results will not be published, but all candidates will receive an email notifying them whether they are being considered for the next stage of the selection process.
Stage 2: Interview and Further Information
Approximately 20-30 candidates will be invited for further interviews and information in Phnom Penh in March 2023. Candidates will be notified via the email address provided during the application.
Stage 3: Interview
Up to 10 candidates will be interviewed in Phnom Penh in March 2023.
These dates are subject to change based on the COVID-19 situation. If necessary, the exact time, venue, and format of the interviews will be communicated directly to the interviewees via email.
