The Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) announced the
“Empowerment and Social Integration of Refugees and Internally Displaced
people” subject for the 2016 AGFUND International Prize for Pioneering
Human Development Projects and invites the UN, international and
regional organizations, ministries and public institutions, NGOs,
universities and research centers around the world to submit their
nominations for the Prize, which worth US$ 500,000 (Five Hundred
Thousands) allocated for the four categories of the Prize.
The selection of this subject for the Prize reflects AGFUND keenness
to pinpoint the distinguished development experiences addressing the
consequences of refuging and internal displacement and their impact on
victims. The Prize is divided into four categories as follows:
- FIRST CATEGORY : (US$ 200,000) Innovative projects that support the developing countries’ programs & polices for the empowerment and social integration of refugees and internally displaced people (For projects implemented by UN, international or regional organizations).
- SECOND CATEGORY: (US$ 150,000) The NGOs-led efforts for the empowerment and social integration of refugees and internally displaced people (For projects implemented by national NGOs(
- THIRD CATEGORY : (US$ 100,000) Innovative governmental projects for the empowerment and social integration of refugees and internally displaced people (For projects by ministries and public institutions(

The Committee holds an annual meeting in which it discusses the evaluation results and selects the winning projects. The nominations are evaluated with complete fairness and clarity by experts chosen every year according to their specializations and experience in to the Prize subject. And the Prize is handed over in an annual ceremony attended by the representatives of the local and international organizations, development experts, diplomats and media representatives.
